Moving in Europe – Pensions and unemployment benefits

I will be moving to Brussels at the end of the month to work for the Transparency International EU Office. This weekend, I was discussing with my father how the social security aspects of this work would look like – he was mainly concerned about my pension rights – and I had to admit that I hadn’t thought about this in detail.

Thanks to Jean-Séb’s Tumblr post this morning, I stumbled over the the following two videos from the European Commission explaining the current legislation regarding the transfer of pension and unemployment benefit rights in Europe:

I wonder whether there are real-life reports how well or how badly this legislation works in practice…?!
